The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA), as part of the Health and Ageing Portfolio, is a Federal Government agency charged with responsibility for protecting the health and safety of people, and the environment, from the harmful effects of ionising and non ionising radiation. The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Health has executive responsibility for ARPANSA.

Our CEO

As CEO of ARPANSA, Mr Peter Burns is responsible for the Agency's activities, policy directions and efficient performance.

Advisory Council & Committees

The ARPANS Act establishes the Radiation Health and Safety Advisory Council, the Radiation Health Committee and the Nuclear Safety Committee to advise the CEO of ARPANSA.
