ARPANSA Radiation Protection Series

The Radiation Protection Series of publications is a new series published by ARPANSA. It will replace the Radiation Health Series, formerly published by National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and now the responsibility of ARPANSA, as well as the Codes published under the Environment Protection (Nuclear Codes) Act 1978 ("the Nuclear Codes"), which has now been repealed.

Radiation Health Series Publications (NHMRC)

The Radiation Health Series of publications was formerly published by the NHMRC. NHMRC has advised that it does not intend to review the Radiation Health Series publications and has handed responsibility for reviewing these publications to ARPANSA.

Nuclear Codes

The Nuclear Codes were developed under the Environment Protection (Nuclear Codes) Act 1978. This Act was repealed as part of the process of establishing ARPANSA. These Codes have now been reviewed and incorporated into the new Radiation Protection Series of publications now being developed by ARPANSA. Nuclear Codes that have been superseded are:

• Code of Practice on Radiation Protection in the Mining and Milling of Radioactive Ores (1987) - superseded by Radiation Protection Series No. 9
• Code of Practice on the Management of Radioactive Wastes from the Mining and Milling of Radioactive Ores (1982) - superseded by Radiation Protection Series No. 9
• Code of Practice for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Substances (1990) - superseded by Radiation Protection Series No. 2
