ARPANSA Base Station Survey 2007- 08
ARPANSA is currently coordinating a survey of environmental radio frequency electromagnetic energy (RF EME) levels arising from mobile phone base station antennas.
Background information on the survey methodology and purpose is available using the navigation links on the left.
Select a suburb or town in the table to see detailed measurement results. More measurement results from this study will be added to the table as they become available.

Survey management and funding: How is this survey being funded and who is making the decisions?
Choosing the base stations: How the base stations were selected for inclusion in this survey.
Taking the measurements: How and where the levels of radiofrequency electromagnetic energy (EME) were measured.
Australian exposure limits: There are limits on the levels of EME to which the public may be exposed. What are these limits for mobile phone signals?
Reporting the measurements: The results presented are summaries of hundreds of measurements taken near each base station. How are the values obtained?
Base station frequency bands: Australia uses several mobile phone technologies that can operate in one of four frequency bands in the microwave part of the spectrum. Knowing the frequencies used for each technology makes it easier to understand the measurements.
