The Board and Chief Executive

As CEO of ARPANSA,  Dr Carl-Magnus Larsson is responsible for the Agency's activities, policy directions and efficient performance. The ARPANSA Board supports the CEO and is the major vehicle for collegiate decision making in the Agency.

Offices and Branches within ARPANSA

ARPANSA has six branches located in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.

  • Legal Office: including Legal Advice and Corporate Compliance - located in Sydney
  • Corporate Office: sections include Finance, People & Culture, Information Technology & Management and Technical Service - located in Sydney and Melbourne
  • CEO Office: including Planning & Integration, Government & International Liaison, Project Coordination & Support, Communication & Education Support, Quality Management - located in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra
  • Operations Services: sections include Security & Community Safety, Best Practice Regulation; Compliance & Enforcement and Safety Analysis - located in Sydney and Melbourne
  • Radiation Health Services: sections include Monitoring & Emergency Response, Environmental & Public Health, Non-ionising Radiation, Occupational Exposure and Personal Radiation Monitoring Service - located in Melbourne
  • Medical Radiation Services: sections include Diagnostic Imaging and Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy, Australian Clinical Dosimetry Service - located in Melbourne.

Advisory Bodies

The ARPANS Act establishes several bodies that advise the CEO of ARPANSA. These bodies include the Radiation Health and Safety Advisory Council, the Radiation Health Committee and the Nuclear Safety Committee. The ARPANS Act also specifies the categories of membership for the Council and Committees.
