How do I apply for a licence?
There are two types of licence in the ARPANS Act:
- a source licence which is required by Commonwealth entities (“controlled persons”) who deal with controlled material or controlled apparatus; and
- a facility licence which is required by Commonwealth entities (“controlled persons”) who are engaged in certain conducts in relation to a nuclear installation or a prescribed radiation facility.
Unless an exemption applies, either a Source Licence or a Facility Licence must be obtained by the controlled person.
Applying for a Source Licence
Commonwealth agencies and Commonwealth contractors who wish to apply for a source licence should complete the following application form in conjunction with the associated regulatory guide:

Applying for a facility licence for a Prescribed Radiation Facility
Commonwealth agencies and Commonwealth contractors who wish to apply for a facility licence for a prescribed radiation facility should complete the following application form in conjunction with the associated regulatory guide:
