Contracts Over $100,000

On 20th June 2001, the Senate agreed to an Order requiring Ministers to table a letter, stating that all FMA agencies falling under their responsibility have placed on the internet a list of contracts of $100,000 or more which are current or entered into during the previous twelve months. The Order has been amended a number of times, the most recent being in December 2003.

The Senate Order now requires the letter from the Minister to be tabled twice yearly, no later than the 31st August, in the case of the financial year listing and no later than 28th February (29th in a leap year), for the calendar year listing.

The Order now specifies that the contract listing is to indicate:

  • the relevant reporting period;
  • the twelve month period relating to the contract listing;
  • the estimated cost of complying with the Order and method used to make this estimate; and
  • for each contract entered into by the agency which has not been fully performed or which was entered into during the previous twelve months, and which provides consideration to the value of $100 000 or more:
    • the contractor;
    • the amount of financial consideration of the contract;
    • the subject matter of each contract;
    • the commencement date of the contract;
    • the duration of the contract;
    • whether any provisions of the contract are regarded as confidential;
    • whether there are any other requirements of confidentiality; and
    • reasons for confidentiality.
