General advice for using monitors
- Clips for monitors – Clips are provided when the service begins. Keep these clips to use with your next set of monitors. Return monitors without clips at the end of each wearing period.
- Control monitors – Each dispatch includes a free control monitor to measure background radiation. This background radiation is subtracted from the personal monitor reading to calculate the worker’s occupational dose. See our control monitor factsheet for information on correct storage and use.
- Storage and handling – Store personal monitors together with their control monitor when not in use. Keep them away from radiation sources, but do not store them in a shielded container. Monitors must remain onsite unless required for work purposes.
